SOAR Chapel Community Hub
A beautiful place in the heart of the Rhondda Valley in Penygraig
About the book fair.
There isn't much in the way of books and literature in the Rhondda Valley. The bookshops have long since gone and the libraries are sadly dwindling. I don't want to go into the politics of it all, but as a writer I want people to keep on reading. It doesn't matter about your age, where books are concerned, but books are really important. This is why I started the Rhondda Book Fair in 2015. My wife Jan and I have been working hard running this non-profit event, just to get people back into reading.
I'm a full-time writer and my wife is great at organising and... she makes lovely cakes too. So every September we strive to bring this event to the rhondda. This year it's happening in December 2023. I invite lots of authors to come along and promote themselves to the reading public. So, if you're reading this then please come along to the Rhondda Book Fair and meet great writers. The event is FREE and the author panels are free too. |
TheatreThe SOAR Chapel Community Hub has the most fantastic theatre. It's a place where you can sit and drink a cup of coffee or tea and eat some cake, taking in the world of literature.

Everyone is welcomeThe book fair is for the very young, with picture books for pre-schoolers. We have authors who write for primary age; from 5-7yrs and 8+. So there is plenty of interest for teen and Young Adults too. But we also have adult fiction and non-fiction, so no matter what age - we can cover it.
